Hey There
My name is Cassie and one of my passions is writing. Another passion is helping people. Put both of those passions together, and the result is art. I have been creating different forms of art since I was a teenager. Many credit me for The Let Them Movement which is a modern way of exhibiting the law of detachment. As for myself, I like to remember that my words have had an everlasting impression and has impacted millions of lives.
All About Me
I grew up in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in a small city named Norton located in Virginia. I was born in 1992 and grew up in a very rural area that had more trees than people. The schools I attended didn't have many students, but the community was one of the strongest I have ever known. Among the community, my family was a very welcoming and helpful group. My grandmother, Phyllis, is one of my biggest role models in life and she is the epitome of grace. She spent the majority of my childhood helping raise me within her church community. I can safely say that the person I am today is because of her never-ending love and support.
When I was nine years old, my mother married her current husband, and we moved to a nearby town named Big Stone Gap, VA. I attended Powell Valley High School where I excelled in multiple sports and electives. I lived with my mom and step-dad until I turned seventeen and graduated high school. I accepted a softball scholarship and pursued sports and academics at the University of Virginia College at Wise. After a few years in Wise, Virginia, I met the father of my two beautiful children and became a military spouse after the birth of my youngest child. We lived in multiple states, until I relocated us back to my hometown mountains.
I am one of the proudest moms in existence because I have two of the coolest and kindest kids in the world. Brayleigh and Oliver are my reason for existing and motivate me to continuously work on myself. With their hobbies coming first, I volunteer within my community, specifically in the athletic departments. I actively choose to work in local nursing homes, because I believe -- to learn how to protect our future, I believe we must learn from those who survived their past. My work within my community is dear to me and I am very passionate about my hometown area.
Along with my career within the nursing home, I am also a part-time writer, author, and artist. Art has always allowed me to escape reality temporarily until I am ready to face it again. I hope to always create art that helps me and impacts the world positively.
